Braces galore in second-half rampage vs Glyn

By Miguel Badimon

Hampton faced Glyn at home in a friendly game on Saturday 15th of November.  The match started and straight away the hosts scored, but their celebrations were soon cut short, as the goal scorer had mistimed his run and was marginally offside. A sense of disappointment spread through the crowd like wildfire. Both teams attacked relentlessly yet none seemed to penetrate the opponent’s back line, and the first half had nothing else to tell, concluding in a 0-0 draw.

But the second half was different. Hampton started on the front foot and soon enough Jay Peakman slotted the ball into the back of the net. 1-0 Hampton. Corner for Hampton, the ball was whipped into the six-yard box and Lenny McNulty headed the ball past the keeper. 2-0 Hampton. Disappointingly for the home side, Glyn managed to get one back. But then the goals came flooding in. 3-1, 4-1, 5-1 6-1, 7-1. Hampton couldn’t stop scoring and braces from Miguel Badimon, Lenny McNulty and Arhin Kotecha sealed the deal.
