U17A fall to Ardingly College in friendly match
By Maxi Grindley
Hampton U-17 A team lost to their counterpart Ardingly College side 4-1 in a friendly between two impressive teams.
The Hampton team, made up of a mix of U-16 A team and U-17 1st XI players, could not match Ardingly College’s fluidity and confidence on the ball, although they did have periods of dominance throughout the match.
It was Ardingly College who scored the first goal with a clinical, composed finish to take the lead. But it was not long before Alasdair Bolling equalised with a towering header from a cross to put Hampton back on level terms.
Ardingly College restored their lead before the half-time whistle through a header from a free kick. Although the second half started fairly evenly, it was ultimately Ardingly who got the vital next goal with a curling effort straight into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Ardingly then scored their fourth with a thumping shot from distance to ensure they finished the game in relative comfort.
