Season Review: U12 Football
By Joe Murphy
It has been a successful year for the first year footballers at Hampton who have all performed well for their respective teams. The highlight was the A team beating Stanley Park High School to reach the County Cup final.
Reaching the final was the culmination of an impressive season that saw the A team win more than three-quarters of their matches and and score 69 goals. With the A team’s season not yet over, the player of the season has yet to be decided.
The B team opened their campaign with a 13–0 thrashing of John Lyon School. There were some nail-biting moments in the ESFA cup when two consecutive rounds went to extra time, but Hampton dug deep to get through to the fourth round, eventually being defeated by Kingsdale Foundation School. Overall the B’s won 11 of their 22 matches, and Savan Soni was elected the B team’s player of the season.
The C team played 15 matches, winning 11 – including an impressive 15–0 victory against Alleyn’s School. C team forward Shivam Handa was voted the player’s player of the season.
The D team were only defeated on one occasion, winning nine of their 12 games. The D team strikers found the net 51 times, bagging nearly double the number of goals they conceded. Defender Ben Taskis was awarded the D team player of the season.
The E and F teams also performed well, the E team winning 75% of their matches.
Overall it has been a great first season for the U12 Hampton football teams, who can now look forward positively to building on their experiences next year.
