1st XI beat Forest 2-1 in tight friendly match
By Maxi Grindley
Hampton’s 1st XI achieved a hard-fought 2-1 win over their Forest School counterparts.
Forest School came firing out of the blocks, scoring an early goal through a curling finish from a loose ball into the box.
Hampton were lucky not to concede further goals as Forest School dominated the first half, easily playing through the Hampton press.
The half time break was a welcome opportunity for Hampton to regroup and determine their tactics for the remainder of the match.
After the break, Hampton were for the first time competing on a par with Forest School and so the game was far tighter.
Alasdair Bolling restored parity with a fine finish from inside the box to ensure the match was once again in the balance.
Then a shot from Theo Radicopoulos took a deflection to loop over the Forest goalkeeper and give Hampton the lead.
Both sides missed chances to leave Hampton 2-1 victors at the final whistle.
