Stylish U15D beat Charterhouse 8-2 despite torrid conditions

By Jack Farthing

The Hampton U15D team won 8-2 against Charterhouse in the pouring rain on Saturday afternoon.

A penalty won by Will Knowles and converted by Patrick Quirke gave Hampton an early advantage in a game they dominated from the off.

10 minutes later, a poor clearance from the Charterhouse keeper went straight to the feet of Yiannis Markellos, giving him an open goal to put Hampton 2-0 clear.

Next Donald Macdonald sent a cross into the area for Will Knowles to convert to put Hampton 3-0 up at the break.

Going into the 2nd half, Hampton continued strongly and added two goals early on from Aryen Khan and James O’Brien respectively.

However, after a unfortunate defensive mix up in the Hampton defence, Charterhouse pounced and Daniel Edge could do little about an emphatic finish into the bottom right corner.

But Hampton regained control immediately after as Donald lashed a fierce shot into the bottom left hand corner of the net from just outside the penalty area.

Hampton then rounded it off with two goals in quick succession as Patrick Quirke scored from left back and Ben Hagan scored from centre back.

Although Charterhouse scored from a deflected shot at the end, it was a calm and assured display from a Hampton side who were of a better quality than their opponents.
