U14B seal conclusive win over Brighton College

By Josh Freer

Hampton School’s U14B rugby team completed a conclusive home win over Brighton College at the weekend, writes Josh Freer.

The game started off with a long kick into receptive Hampton hands. An excellent catch by Tom Holland led to a good run before Hampton unfortunately lost possession of the ball.

But not in the least downhearted, Hampton regained control and gave the ball to second row James Abrahart, who made a beautiful run to the try line.

Now faced with a difficult conversion, Oliver Goodchild took control of the ball and impressed the touchline supporters with a perfect kick.

Now seven points up, Hampton managed to take control of the ball and pass it to the home team number 8 Jose Bouras Leao who made a strong run down the centre of the pitch.

Then, back onto James Abrahart, and back onto the try line as he managed to score another try. Another strong conversion from Oliver Goodchild put Hampton 14 points up.

A try from Oliver Taylor led up to the half time mark, and the second half marked a new opportunity with a boost from Mr Thompson’s half time talk.

Yet all this was not quite enough and after some hard work from all the defensive line, Brighton finally managed to cross the try line.

With the new half James Abrahart saw yet another opportunity for a try and brought the score up to a convincing 28-7.

With a twenty-one point lead, the ball was kicked into touch to end a brilliant match with the team really coming together.
