U13A emerge the best of three in junior rugby tournament

By Joe Cornell

Hampton recorded convincing wins against Tiffin School and St Benedicts in a tough three-cornered competition..

Hampton opened the morning with a tough match against Tiffin School. The forwards from Tiffin were strong and physical, but Hampton contained them. Adam Gwynne scored the first try for Hampton, with Ben Conaghan adding two more.

Later, Joe Cornell sealed the game, dotting down under the posts. Hampton won the game, though, with their robust defence keeping the strong Tiffin attack at bay. The final score was 20-0 to Hampton.

Next, came the challenge of St Benedicts, who were determined to exact revenge for a thrashing handed out earlier in the season by Hampton. But even though St Benedicts were highly motivated, Hampton were too strong, running out 35-0 winners.

Ben Conaghan scored two tries with Will Wallace, Tom Harvey, Harry Armstrong, Toby Smith and Joe Cornell adding the rest for a comprehensive victory. Hampton did not let St Benedicts enter their half and in the process played some very expansive rugby.
