Hampton travel to Wengen to compete in British Schoolboys’ Ski Races
By Sam Schomberg
On Saturday morning, the School Ski Team Consisting of eight students and two teachers (Miss Noble and Mr Cumberbatch) set out for the British Schoolboys Ski Races in Wengen.
After a solid training day on Sunday, the team were all eager to compete in the GS race the following day. Fortunately, the weather held out and the race was blessed with glorious sunshine.
Next, were the slalom races in which Hal Lewis and Sam Schomberg came 5th and 3rd respectively in U16 and U18 categories.
The final day was a crowd favourite: the dual slalom, where teams of 4 race side by side and the winner takes it all.
Up first was the U18 team. Hampton won the first race with decent margins, however were beaten by Reed’s School in the second round.
The U16 team however came down the mountain undefeated after winning all their races.
Overall, it was a wonderful few days and special thanks to all the teachers and staff who made it possible.
