2nd XI fall in hard-fought ESFA semi-final

By Maxi Grindley

Hampton’s 2nd XI crashed out of the ESFA B team competition after losing 1-0 to Harris Academy Crystal Palace in a tight-fought match.

Harris Academy started the better side and had multiple opportunities in the opening minutes, which came to nothing.

Eventually, they went ahead with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box curling into the bottom corner.

Hampton grew into the game, though Harris Academy were still the stronger side at the half-time whistle.

Hampton started strongly in the second half and had a couple of dangerous counter-attacks, which Harris Academy did well to deal with.

The game was far more even in the second half as Hampton began to press higher up with more intensity.

Hampton began to commit more numbers forward as they searched for the equaliser, so the game became more open with both sides missing chances.

But Hampton could not find the goal they needed, and Harris Academy emerged as deserved victors.
