Hampton’s Greatest Sporting Moments: Scannella becomes fourth entry to reach quarter-finals

By Josh Bartholomew

Calogero Scannella OH (2018) saw his ISFA Cup-winning hat-trick become the fourth moment through to the quarter-finals of HSC’s Hampton’s Greatest Sporting Moments competition.

Scannella faced stiff competition from Todd Ryan OH (2017), whose 206* for the First XI broke a School record, Nick Jupp OH (2007) and his performance in the FA Vase final, as well as Chris Martin OH (1999), who rowed across the Atlantic Ocean.

Yet Scannella’s hat-trick, which helped the U15As to a 3-2 victory in the ISFA Cup final in 2015, came through the poll successful, winning 37 per cent of the vote to reach the quarter-finals.

Scannella joins Chris Mahoney, the 1988 Triple and the ESFA Cup-winning First XI in the knockout stages, which will take place after the conclusion of the eight Group stages.
