Assured start for Benson in Quins debut

Jamie Benson OH (2021) made his Harlequins debut in a Premiership Rugby Cup match against Saracens that finished in a 28-21 defeat.

The 2020-21 Captain of Rugby and Harlequins Academy graduate converted all his kicks from fly-half. Benson looked sharp in attack on his debut as he steered the South West London side agonisingly close to a victory over Saracens.

Speaking after the match, Benson said: “It was really special. We didn’t quite get the result we wanted but it was a really nice experience. I had some really experienced guys outside me, who really helped me and settled me in. I loved it. We’ve had a couple of injuries at 10 recently and I found out earlier this week that I’d be starting and it was obviously really special and really unexpected. It’s been a great week.”

Benson will be hoping to start in the Friday night match back at The Stoop against Northampton Saints next weekend.
