U12As kick off Hampton careers in style

By Ben Colegate-Stone

On Saturday 19th of September, the U12A rugby team had their first runout as Hamptonians, at home against RGS High Wycombe, in an amazing battle to the very end.

In the first five minutes, Hampton suffered a blow when one of their forwards, despite showing huge bravery, was injured by a strong tackle.

In true Hampton spirit, he cheered on from the sidelines as the team in gold and black demonstrated great teamwork to overturn a two-try deficit and end the first half at 10-10.

With infectious energy, RGS secured a stunning try early into the second half, but Hampton soon hit back with an equally impressive move down the wing to level the game.

As the match entered its final 8 minutes, despite having less possession, RGS took the lead and held off the Hampton side, with relentless determination from both teams in the dying minutes.

Ending 15-20, RGS High Wycombe ultimately prevailed despite Hampton’s amazing performance, with the home side showing great promise for the season ahead but left with plenty to work on in the meantime.
