U12As continue to Surrey Cup semi-final
By Tom Tabor
Hampton’s U12A football team beat Riddlesdown College 4-2 after a strong first half performance to progress to the Surrey Cup semi-finals.
Early in the match, Hampton dominated possession with promising attacks. The breakthrough came 5 minutes into the game. After a long ball from the back followed by a fabulous through-ball from Josh King set Nicolas Herrero in on goal, our top scorer netted it.
Later in the first half, a loopy corner from Tom Tabor caused the ball to bounce around in the box and Sam Bond was there to tap the ball into the back of the net. The rest of the half consisted of promising attacks and shots on goal. The score was2-0 at half time to Hampton.
Early in the second half a great pass from James Queen set Nicolas Herrero one on one with the keeper to score his second, and put Hampton 3-0 up.
However the game wasn’t over and a miscommunication at the back caused an own goal. But Hampton didn’t let their heads drop and another long ball gave Nicolas Herrero his hat-trick.
Riddlesdown got a consolation goal in the last minute from a header but Hampton held strong.
