U14A miss out in five-goal thriller

By Jago Doherty

Hampton’s U14A team were unlucky to lose 3 – 2 to Bede’s School in the first game of the Elgin League.

Hampton scored early to take the lead before a halfway-line wondergoal from Bede’s levelled the match.

However the opposition scored twice in quick succession before Hampton pulled one back in a powerful final five minutes.

Hampton opened the scoring after Jamie Wilson latched onto a through ball before finishing into the bottom corner of the Bede’s net.

However, soon afterwards, Bede’s levelled the game with a halfway-line wonder strike. The game went into the break at 1-1.

Despite coming out fighting after the interval, Hampton got nothing to show for their efforts.

Then, half-way through the second half, they were punished for not taking their chances when a Bede’s striker slotted the ball into the Hampton goal.

Despite taking the lead, Bede’s did not relax and scored another goal minutes after the first, triggering a fiery Hampton comeback.

Two minutes into injury time, Hampton finally got some success when Hayden Christian tapped the ball into the back of the net, after a corner from Obrad Kuzmanovic bounced off the post and ran straight to the Hampton right winger.

However Hampton could not complete the comeback and the tight game ended in a 3-2 loss for the Hampton team.

They must now focus on an important away trip to Eton next Saturday.
