U12C hold on for away win in three-goal thriller
By Henry Jackson
Hampton U12C footballers won a well-deserved victory away to Forest School by the odd goal in three after taking a two-goal lead.
Despite the early start and the long journey to North East London, the Hampton team kicked off full of energy.
At first Forest School enjoyed most of the possession, and they started to dominate with many near-goal opportunities.
But Hampton fought hard, winning the ball back to make the first half a very tight battle. The score was 0-0 at the interval.
Then early in the second half Hampton broke the deadlock when right wing back Jayden Park delivered a precise pass for left-footed Gabriel Kelly to find the back of the net from a tight angle.
Five minutes later Hampton went 2-0 up with a precise finish into the top right-hand corner of the Forest net.
The home side were feeling the pressure, but continued to challenge Hampton’s defence.
Then, with ten minutes to go, Forest halved the deficit. It was now seven shots on goal each!
But with gritty defence Hampton held on for a challenging but well-deserved victory.
