Last-gasp winner gives 2nd XI comeback win over Dulwich

By Maxi Grindley

Hampton’s 2nd XI recovered from 2-0 down against Dulwich College to win a thrilling game 3-2 in the last minute.

Hampton started the stronger side and were rewarded for their pressure when they won an early penalty.

Lucas Copplestone sent the penalty narrowly wide and the near miss seemed to galvanise Dulwich, who began to fight their way back into the game.

Their efforts paid dividends when they opened the scoring with their striker finishing coolly when clear through.

They then doubled their lead with a near identical goal to the first.

The second half began, and Dulwich almost scored another when a soft penalty was awarded against Albert Cloud.

Joel Booth saved the penalty to keep Hampton in the game, so when Nathan Chapplow bundled the ball into the goal for Hampton it was game on.

The equaliser came for Hampton when Sam van der Poel arrowed a thunderbolt into the top corner.

Hampton continued to press for a winner, and it arrived with the last touch of the game when Jules Lockey jumped highest to head the ball into the goal via the crossbar.
