We’re back! HSC returns for 2020/21

After a long summer, Hampton Sports Chronicle is back up and running for the new school term.

Since we last operated, there’s been some fairly significant news across the School sporting circuit: thankfully for the First XI, ESFA and ISFA will begin after October half-term, which gives the senior footballers a chance to regain the national trophy which they couldn’t quite defend last season.

Sadly, news on the rugby front is less positive. The Champions Trophy, which the First XV appeared to be strong contenders in, has been cancelled for 2020/21. The St. Joseph’s Festival and Rosslyn Park National Sevens Tournament are still expected to take place after Christmas, though, giving the senior rugby players sufficient opportunity for silverware.

Since the beginning of term, competitive rugby has been impossible; competitive football has been restricted to just the U18As, who won 4-3 at home against Bede’s on Saturday.

Cricket, however, has been flourishing in its late-Summer glory: two consecutive blocks have taken place against RGS Guildford on the past two Saturdays.

Despite the constraints on spectators, HSC will continue to provide updates from the School’s vibrant sporting community throughout the term.
