U15Cs pegged back in thrilling 2-2 draw
By Alistair White
On a warm and bright Saturday, the U15C team lined up against Bradfield College. Confidence was brimming for both teams after winning their opening games, which would lead to an exciting fixture.
After losing the toss, Bradfield started what would be a tough 70 minutes. Hampton began brightly with crisp passing and some great ball-winning tackles. A strong defensive performance from both sides led to few chances in the first half; however Fahad Hussain made some great runs around the Bradfield left-back and put in some accurate crosses. Unfortunately, after a searching ball into the penalty box, a powerful header at the back post led to Hampton conceding. The U15Cs kept their heads high and Dimitri Tzinieres, after some impressive dribbling, brought Hampton back to 1-1.
Half-time came and went and Hampton maintained their impressive play, with the defence winning the ball left and right. With some strong team play and aggressive tackling (especially from Freddie Hunt and Alistair White) Hampton were now starting to get on the front foot.
After some slightly wayward shots from afar, Thomas Davies from central midfield scored a brilliant goal from outside the box, straight into the bottom corner to make it 2-1.
After this setback, Bradfield came back stronger than ever, but this left more space out wide. As White made his way into the box, he cut back and was fouled. Penalty for Hampton. Davies stepped up looking for his second goal, but a magnificent save from the Bradfield keeper, kept them in the fight.
In the dying embers of the game a Bradfield midfielder was left open and took a shot from mid-range. The net bulged. Bradfield had scored – right at the death. 2-2, what a thrilling game after some great play from both sides especially from Anuj Srivastav, Thomas Davies and Freddie Hunt.
