Hampton secure close win against St Benedict’s

On Friday 3rd October Hampton came up against St Benedict’s, a renowned rugby school. 

Hampton had a great start to the match, and without wasting any time, Finlay Clay scored a great try in the corner. Hampton had lots of momentum and threatened to score another, but St Benedict’s came back and ran through the defences of Hampton to secure their first try of the match.

Hampton kept cool heads and scored two tries in quick succession, the first from Felix Payne and another one from Finlay Clay. St Benedict’s did not drop their heads and worked their way up the field, but Hampton fought back with some superb defending and a stunning counterattack which produced their fourth try of the match. 

Both teams battled on until halftime and the score was 4-1 Hampton.

St Benedict’s started off the second half with two bursts of speed from their winger which were both converted into tries. The game was on. Finlay Sealtiel made a great drive down the pitch and resulted from a great try on the wing from Owen Sharma-Wadeson. Hampton were back in control. After yet another try in a very high scoring match from St Benedict’s, Hampton held on to secure their second win in two games.

The score at the end of the match was 5-4 Hampton.
