Former Captain of Rugby Louis Lynagh makes Premiership Rugby debut for Harlequins

By Josh Bartholomew

Louis Lynagh OH (2019), Hampton’s Captain of Rugby in the 2018-19 season, made his Premiership Rugby debut from the substitutes’ bench on Sunday in a 26-32 win over Leicester Tigers, replacing Aaron Morris after 45 minutes.

Lynagh, who played for England U18, was challenged with the task of tackling Fijian winger Nemani Nadolo, who weighs 137-kg. The full-back handled himself well, tackling the rampaging Nadolo one-on-one after the Fijian had torn through much of the Quins defensive line.

The Old Hamptonian has endured a productive start to his professional career, spending a productive nine matches on loan at Richmond RFC, the club at which he learnt his trade, and making two appearances for the Quins senior squad.

Lynagh, who is competing with England international Mike Brown for the Quins full-back shirt, will hope to push on next season as he continues to develop in the academy.
